Before the game tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Bob Gainey decided to make more line changes and giving some rest to some players. Obviously, our GM is already preparing for the playoffs. He is giving rest to Alex Tanguay for tonight's game. He has made some line changes. Here is how the roster would look like for tonight :
Stewart - Koivu - Laraque
Higgins - Metropolit - Kovalev
Latendresse - Lapierre - Kostopoulos
A. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - D'Agostini
Like most media like to say, Bob Gainey is a real poker player, he hides his cards well. We can never know what he is really thinking. As you can see, Saku with Stewart and Big George, Kovy with Higgins and Metro and the other lines are unchanged. Is Bob doing some experiments right before the playoffs? Is Bob protecting his key players? Will he change his line during the game? Has Bob giving up on this game already and preparing to face the Bruins? We don't know. But one thing is for sure, he is messing with our minds.
The same thing happened yesterday during Gainey's press conference, the reporter Marc De Foy asked him why he didn't dress Laraque for the Bruins game. And he answered : "I don't want to explain you why. You will write it and everyone will know why. I prefer keeping a card or two." A pretty surprising answer to a simple question.

Maxim Lapierre gets the Jacques-Beauchamp trophy giving annually to a player which has a dominant role in the team without obtaining a particular honour. Congrats to Max, he deserves it well.
