Bob Gainey Talks About the Sale of the Team

For the first time, Bob Gainey comments and confirms the selling of the Montreal Canadiens. Ever since we have learned about the sale of the team, no one from the organization have officially confirmed it. At least now, we know that it is for sale. Bob Gainey believes that there will be a new owner and it is possible that the new owner might want a new direction. But for now, he has been told to keep doing his job normally.

About the new coach
Bob Gainey says that he has some names in head and that he has been in contact with them, but he won't be making any announcement anytime soon. Right now, the focus is on the sale of the team.

About the UFA
He says that sometimes he sees the glass half full and sometimes he sees it half empty. Bob Gainey reconizes that the negociations with the players have not advanced much, but he has been in contact with them. The GM added : "We know which are our priorities, but it doesnt mean that we can afford to rehire all of them."

About Vincent Lecavlier
When asked about Vinny Lecavalier, Bob Gainey said that he didn't want to comment on other team's player. Both Gainey and Lawton admitted that they have spoken to each other after Gainey have publicly criticized Lawton. Lawton also repeated that Lecavalier is not for trade.
