Celine Dion Interested in Buying the Canadiens

According to an article published on Thursday in the Globe and Mail, Celine Dion is interested in joining bid with Seagram heir Stephen Bronfman and Quebecor's Pierre Karl Péladeau to acquire the Montreal Canadiens.

In addition, the Globe and Mail have learned from their financial sources that this consortium is planning to create a TV channel in Quebec that would broadcast the Habs games and other hockey related shows in order to increase their income.

Globe and Mail have also learned that the Cirque du Soleil's owner Guy Laliberté is out of the bidding because he is not interested in purchasing a team where he does not have full control of the decision making process.

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec is also not interested in purchasing the franchise, but are still open to help out any potential buyers.
