Many of us, including me, would love to see Eric Desjardins as a potential Habs assistant coach or defensemen coach. Our poor defensive play last year and with all the new defensive prospects coming up such as Ryan Mcdonagh, P.K. Subban, David Fisher, Yannick Webber and Mathieu Carle. It would only make sense to have a star defensemen teach them the ropes in the NHL, a mentor to whom they can look up to. We have seen what have happened to Ryan O'Byrne without a defensemen coach, he got lost and instead of progressing in the NHL, he regressed.
Unfortunately today, Eric Desjardins have told CKAC radio, that he has not received any calls from Bob Gainey or Jacques Martin for the position of assistant coach. He also added that he has no interest in that position right now. He might be interested in 6 or 7 years from now, but for the moment, his family is his priority. Source
