Rumors : Vincent Lecavalier For Andrei Markov

From Eklund, according to his sources, if the NY Islanders don't pick John Tavares with their first overall pick and the Tampa Bay Lightnings gets him. The Lightnings will think about improving their defense by trading Lecavalier. The Habs are now willing to trade away Andrei Markov according to Eklund and are therefore the favorites to get the deal done. Source

I personally don't see Bob Gainey trading away Andrei Markov, especially after what have happened at the end of the season when Markov was injured. The Canadiens are a completely different team with him in the lineup and I believe that Bob Gainey knows this better than anyone. He is the core of the team. The Habs have so many young defensive prospects in the minors through the last couple drafts, it is more likely that Gainey would trade away David Fisher, Mcdonagh or P.K. Subban than trading Markov.

  2. I have to admit getting Vincent could be good for the team, But for Markov (which is the hird best D-Man in the league after green/lidstrom).... I dont know. The thing is that we have lot of good prospects in D, but NO good centers at all (Plek is #2).
