Carbo is Mad at Laraque's Declaration, Laraque Clarifies What He Said

After Laraque's declaration to the media yesterday, Carbo is unhappy of the timing of his declaration and the way he decided to handle this situation with the media. Carbo says that the team is on a good streak right now and that it isn't the time to make a distraction for his teammates. The coach says that he has spoken to Laraque three days ago about this situation and thought Laraque understood what he said. If George still has doubts, Carbo says that he is welcome to come to his office and talk about it. Carbo also added that if we look at Laraque's ice time compared to the other 4th liners players in the league, we could see that he has one of the highest ice time. Carbo says that he is paid to help the players, he doesn't need them to like him, but he wants them to at least respect him.

24 hours after his declarations, now Laraque says that he doesn't want to be traded. He wants to clarify that reporters have asked him if he didn't like his ice time. Laraque said that he answered the question honestly and said yeah. He said that he would be lying to them if he said no. Anyone with a big contract such as his would not be happy of their ice time and would want to play every game. All he said yesterday was that he won't be surprised if he was going to be traded before the trade deadline. Laraque insisted that he loves Montreal, his family is in Montreal and that he wants to stay in Montreal. He also added that he has never talked to Bob Gainey about any trade.
