Sergei Back to Hamilton, Kovalev Stays in MTL

The Montreal Canadiens have annonced that they have sent back Sergei Kostitsyn to the Hamilton Bulldogs and have recalled Gregory Stewart. This move from Bob Gainey is a clear message to the younger Kostitsyn that he has not earned a permanent spot on the team yet and that he should work alot harder in order to stay. The same message was giving to Maxim Lapierre last year at the start of the season and look at him now. Hopefully, Sergei will get his act together and start working his way back to the NHL.

Other news related to the Canadiens, Bob Gainey have asked Kovalev to stay in Montreal and not to make the trip with the team to Washington. He believes that Kovalev needs some rest and take some time off to clear his head. According to Gainey, there is alot of pressure on Kovalev right now. He says that with the way Kovalev is playing right now, the team don't need him. The team can survive without one of their good players for a short period of time. Gainey also stated that Kovalev have not asked to be traded and that he wishes to stay in Montreal. But he doesn't dismiss that anything is possible.
