After the lost against the Vancouver Canucks last night, Bob Gainey finally made his move and acquired defenseman Mathieu Schneider from the Atlanta Thrashers. The trade include the Habs 2009 2nd round pick and 2010 3rd round pick in return for Mathieu Schneider and a Thrasher's 2009 conditional pick. Also note that the Habs 2nd round pick was obtained from the Huet trade with the Washington Capitals. Schneider would be filling the 4th defenseman position in the team that Bob has been looking for. Schneider is an experienced offensive defenseman that could help the Canadiens on the powerplay. As a result of the trade, Ryan O'byrne has been sent back to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
