Vincent Lecavalier Habs Rumors

Guess what? Yeah, Vinny rumors resurfacing again! With Bob Gainey's recent move to obtain Mathieu Schneider, many people have started to believe that this is just the beginning of many transactions to come. Especially in the case of Vincent Lecavalier, some believe that the Canadiens are now ready to accept the rumored transaction of sending Andrei Markov, Christopher Higgins and some prospects to the Bolts. In addition, if Bob is successful in trading Kovalev for some picks, the Habs could have cleared enough cap space to welcome Vinny to Montreal. All of this is pure speculations, but yesterday in Bob Gainey's press conference, he has admitted and confirmed for the first time ever since the whole Lecavalier rumors saga, that there has been discussion with the Lightnings about his availability. He also noted that it was the Bolts who have contacted him first. Wow, remember what Brian Lawton said a few weeks ago in his press conference about the rumors? He said he never talked to any teams about trading Lecavalier...hehe. Well, it only confirms what everyone already knew.

More rumors regarding Lecavalier is from Eklund, the anonymous hockey blogger. He says that the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers are the most interested teams and that they are in a tight race in acquiring Vinny. He claims that he has four solid sources that the Rangers have had discussion with the Bolts. The players involved for the Rangers are Marc Staal, Dubinsky, Girardi and some picks. For the Habs, the main player involved is Markov and the others are the same names we have all heard during the All-Star break, which was Higgins, P.K. Subban and some picks.

I guess we'll have to see how things turns out in the next month. All of this is only rumors and speculations, but there's always a little bit of truth in it. It all depends on if it will materialized or not. If it doesn't, we'll just say it's some crazy rumors. If it's true, then we could all say I talk you so. :D
